A Morris Township NJ man recently pleaded guilty to criminal charges for possession of child pornography.
The suspect is a 74-year-old resident of Morris Township, New Jersey. He previously served on the Morris County Board of Elections.
According to authorities, the suspect was caught with DVDs that featured images of child pornography. Law enforcement allegedly found the illicit sexual videos at the suspect’s residence in Morris Township, NJ.
Morris Township police officers seized the suspect’s personal computer and work computer, but there were reportedly no images of child pornography on either computer.
Police placed the suspect under arrest and charged him with endangering the welfare of a child.
While the child endangerment charges were pending, the suspect was suspended from his government position in Morris County.
The suspect could have been sentenced to prison time if convicted, but he reached a plea deal with Morris County prosecutors. In exchange for the suspect pleading guilty to child endangerment, prosecutors agreed to recommend that he be sentenced to a diversionary program: Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI).
The suspect also had to resign his government position, so he no longer serves on the Morris County Board of Elections.
