Butler NJ Burglary LawyersButler New Jersey police shot a person during a violent confrontation at a local house.

According to law enforcement, the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. at a residence on Belleview Terrace in Butler NJ, where the suspect lives with his grandparents. Butler police reportedly spent all day searching for the suspect and eventually found out that he was at the house.

When Butler police officers went to the residence, they found the suspect in the basement. During the subsequent encounter, one of the police officers fired his gun and struck the suspect.

Afterwards, emergency medical responders treated the suspect and then rushed him to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. The suspect received medical treatment at the hospital and was later placed in the intensive care unit.

At this time, police have not revealed the details of events leading up to the police shooting. A neighbor talked to a local media outlet and speculated that the suspect had gotten into “trouble with drugs.” Another neighbor said that Butler police wanted the suspect in connection with the recent burglary of a nearby church.

The 23-year-old suspect, who used to live in Jefferson Township, reportedly has a prior criminal record with convictions for burglary, theft of movable property, and drug crimes. At the time of the recent police shooting, the suspect was on probation for a previous burglary conviction.
