Florham Park law enforcement arrested a Chatham New Jersey woman accused of causing a DWI accident with her young daughter present in the car. Since police alleged that a minor was present in the motor vehicle at the time of the crash, the suspect faces criminal charges for endangering the welfare of a child.
The suspect is a 25-year-old woman from Chatham, New Jersey. She reportedly lost control of her vehicle while driving on Brooklake Road in Florham Park, NJ. The car came to a stop when it crashed into a tree.
The suspect’s two-year-old daughter was allegedly seated in the car at the time of the auto accident.
Chatham NJ police officers and emergency responders went to the scene of the crash and took the two victims to Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
Hospital staff drew blood from the suspect, with the blood test results reportedly indicating that the suspect’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
The suspect has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and DWI in a school zone. She has also been cited for other traffic offenses, including reckless driving, failure to properly use a car seat, failure to keep right, and failure to possess a registration card.
Moreover, the suspect has been charged with child endangerment. These criminal charges could also prompt an investigation by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P).
