Morristown NJ Criminal Defense AttorneysAn Orange New Jersey man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for participating in the gang rape of a teen girl in Morristown, New Jersey.

The suspect is a 23-year-old man from Orange, NJ. According to Morris County authorities, the suspect was one of three people who raped the 17-year-old victim on September 4, 2011. The teen victim was reportedly drunk and going in and out of consciousness when the suspects took her to an isolated area and sexually assaulted her.

The Morristown Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office investigated the sexual assault and eventually determined that enough evidence existed to charge the three men with sexual offenses, including aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault.

While the two other men ultimately reached plea deals on lesser charges of aggravated criminal sexual contact, the main suspect headed to trial and was convicted of aggravated sexual assault.

Now the suspect is headed to prison after being sentenced to a term of incarceration of 10 years. Additionally, the suspect will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
