Montville NJ Murder Defense LawyersA Morris County grand jury recently indicted a Montville New Jersey man on murder charges in connection with the beating death of a three-year-old boy.

The 28-year-old suspect, who moved from Altoona, Pennsylvania to Montville NJ so that he could live with his girlfriend and her young son, allegedly committed the homicide at the Knights Inn hotel where the couple was staying.

On April 10, 2015, Montville police received a 911 call about a child choking. The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, located in Paterson, NJ, where he was placed on life support. Three days later, on April 13, 2015, the victim passed away.

Morris County medical officials later performed an autopsy, which reportedly showed that the toddler’s death was caused by blunt force trauma to the head.

Montville NJ law enforcement conducted an investigation and determined that the suspect beat the victim to death. Investigators also said that the suspect beat his girlfriend, the boy’s mother, as well.

Now a Morris County grand jury has indicted the suspect on a number of criminal charges, including murder, aggravated assault (in connection with the alleged beating of the mother), child endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Although the suspect is not being charged with intentional homicide, he faces equally serious charges for murdering a victim by causing bodily injury. This charge carries severe penalties that could include life imprisonment in NJ State Prison.
