Police arrested a man who allegedly used a beer bottle to assault a teenager at a party in Mount Olive, New Jersey.
Mount Olive police received a call about a fight in the area of Lozier Road. When officers got to the scene, they saw a number of individuals brawling in the roadway.
According to officers at the scene, the 19-year-old suspect physically attacked the 17-year-old victim by hitting him in the face with a beer bottle.
However, police said that the fight began when the victim walked up to the suspect and hit him. The suspect then allegedly responded by picking up a beer bottle and hitting the teen in the head.
The victim reportedly suffered a severe laceration to his face as a result of the altercation.
Prior to being arrested, the suspect and the victim were transported to Morristown Medical Center for medical treatment.
After both individuals were treated for their injuries, they were placed under arrest.
The suspect, who hails from Budd Lake NJ, was charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Meanwhile, the victim was charged with simple assault due to his alleged involvement in the brawl.
After being charged, the adult suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. The teenage suspect was allowed to go home with his parents.
