A Denville NJ man wanted for a shooting in Newton NJ was caught by U.S. Customs officials.
Earlier this year, in a town near the Mexican-American border, Karl Friday was arrested after being found on a Greyhound bus. At a Sierra Blanca TX checkpoint, U.S. Customs officials took Mr. Friday into custody.

Last week, Mercer County detectives conducted a raid on Taareef Robinson’s home in Chambersburg NJ, seizing a host of drugs as well as a shotgun.
Detectives from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office had been investigating Mr. Robinson for a month. Police believed that Mr. Robinson had been using his Chambersburg NJ home to distribute drugs.

Hanover police making a routine traffic stop found an illegal handgun with its serial number scratched off.
A couple of weeks ago, a Hanover police officer stopped a car for making an improper lane change on Route 10. When the officer approached the car, he smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. The car’s driver, 23-year-old Oxford resident George Nomikos, gave the officer permission to search the car.

The attorney for New York Jets football player Mike Goodson has stated that another man, Garant Evans, claimed ownership of a handgun found in a vehicle occupied by Mr. Goodson.
Last month, Mr. Goodson and Mr. Evans were arrested for unlawful possession of a handgun and marijuana possession after the two (2) men were found intoxicated in an SUV on Route 80 in Denville. After taking the men by ambulance to the hospital, Netcong police officers found marijuana and a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle.

According to an article on NJ.com, a Rockaway man was arrested Friday for allegedly firing a handgun in the air in Morristown during an altercation with several other individuals. According to the story, two groups of males got into an altercation at Sona 13 in Morristown and the fight was broken up by police. Later, these two groups reassembled in a different area in Morristown to settle their dispute. Several of these individuals had baseball bats and began fighting. The defendant, after being struck with a baseball bat, allegedly pulled his firearm and fired it into the air. He was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and receiving stolen property.

I recently represented a client charged with 2nd degree gun possession in Cape May, New Jersey. The defendant was a 19-year old college student from Pennsylvania who was vacationing with his family in Ocean City, New Jersey. He and his friend, the co-defendant, purchased airsoft guns (pellet guns) in Pennsylvania from a flea market and brought the airsoft guns on vacation with them to New Jersey. They then fired these weapons off the balcony of their vacation home at a vacant parking lot across the street from their property. They also fired the airsoft guns at a moving vehicle which turned out to be an unmarked police vehicle with uniform law enforcement officers inside.
