Police in Madison NJ recently arrested several people for drug crimes in separate traffic stops.
The first arrest was made after a Madison police officer stopped a silver BMW on Main Street because the officer allegedly noticed several equipment violations. The vehicle was reportedly being driven by a 19-year-old Chatham Township NJ driver, with two 17-year-old Chatham Township girls inside the vehicle as passengers.
The officer allegedly discovered the passengers in possession of marijuana. Sometime later, Madison police detectives and a Morris County Sheriff’s K-9 unit allegedly found the driver in possession of marijuana, heroin and LSD.
All three occupants were arrested. The passengers were charged with simple possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. Meanwhile, the driver was charged with simple possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of heroin, possession of LSD, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
After being placed under arrest, the driver was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, New Jersey. He was held at the jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
The second arrest was made after a Madison NJ police officer stopped a 22-year-old Newark driver on Belleau Avenue. While the officer spoke with the driver, the officer allegedly smelled burnt marijuana inside the vehicle.
The driver was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.
The third arrest was made after a Madison police officer pulled over a 20-year-old New Brunswick woman on Main Street. According to the officer, the traffic stop was made due to a motor vehicle infraction.
When the officer approached the car, she allegedly observed evidence of drug use inside the car. Sometime later, the officer allegedly found marijuana in the vehicle.
The driver was arrested and charged with simple possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.
