Police arrested a woman accused of showing up at the Denville police station with a small quantity of marijuana.
The suspect is a 27-year-old woman from Paterson, New Jersey. According to law enforcement, the suspect was accompanied by her three juvenile children when she arrived at Denville police headquarters. She was reportedly at the police station to meet someone in police custody on drug crime charges.
While the suspect waited in the lobby, a Denville police officer reportedly detected the odor of raw marijuana coming from her.
Denville cops later looked into the suspect’s car and allegedly saw drug paraphernalia in plain view.
The suspect was arrested and charged with multiple drug offenses, including simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal operation of a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS).
The suspect was also charged with child neglect because her kids were allegedly inside the car and exposed to the illegal drugs.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was released on her own recognizance. However, Denville police made sure that she did not drive her kids home.
