A Boonton Township NJ woman was arrested after police allegedly found her driving while intoxicated with a 12-year-old child inside the vehicle.
When Boonton Township police conducted a traffic stop, officers spoke with the driver. According to officers, the driver showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol.
Police also observed a 12-year-old child inside the car and allegedly saw a nearly empty bottle of vodka inside the car. Police later confirmed that the child is related to the driver.
After the driver allegedly failed several field sobriety tests, she was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving while intoxicated in a school zone, driving while intoxicated with a juvenile in the vehicle, having an open container in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and careless driving.
According to police, the driver’s blood alcohol concentration at the time was more than twice the legal limit.
After the driver was arrested, the child was turned over to the custody of a guardian.
