Oak Ridge DWI LawyersAn Oak Ridge NJ man has been charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after allegedly causing two car accidents on Route 23.

The 32-year-old suspect, who lives in the Oak Ridge section of Jefferson NJ, is accused of injuring two motorists in the car crashes.

Police in Wayne New Jersey received a call about a hit-and-run accident on Route 23 north during the early morning rush hour traffic. According to law enforcement, the accident occurred near the highway’s Mountain View exit.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the injured motorist. He told them that a black Dodge pick-up truck had sideswiped his vehicle and then fled north on Route 23.

Just a few moments later, Wayne police received another call about a hit-and-run collision on Route 23 north. This accident occurred near Packanack Lake Road and also resulted in injuries.

Police officers went to the scene and found a large amount of debris in the intersection. The injured motorists told police that the suspect had driven a black 2010 Dodge Ram to the parking lot of a nearby Super Foodtown grocery store.

Wayne police tracked down the suspect in the parking lot. The suspect reportedly stumbled out of his truck when police officers approached his vehicle. The suspect’s behavior and appearance led police to suspect that he was either drunk or under the influence of drugs.

Police asked the suspect to provide his driver’s license. The suspect told police that they could find his license in the center console of his truck. When officers searched the vehicle for the suspect’s license, they allegedly found 32 full bags of heroin, 7 empty bags of heroin, a hypodermic needle, and a tablespoon with heroin residue.

According to authorities, the suspect later failed to successfully perform field sobriety tests. As a result, the suspect was placed under arrest and charged with driving under the influence (DUI). Additionally, the suspect faces charges for possession of heroin, possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was also cited for several traffic violations, including leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, and failure to report an accident.
