Pequannock New Jersey police recently arrested a local man accused of driving under the influence of Xanax and causing a serious car crash.
The accident happened around 6:00 p.m. in Pequannock, NJ. The suspect is a 37-year-old resident of Pequannock, NJ. According to law enforcement, the suspect was driving a car on the Newark Pompton Turnpike when he slammed into a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old Kinnelon woman.
Pequannock NJ cops arrived at the scene of the crash and allegedly noticed the suspect showing signs that he was under the influence of prescription medicine.
After the accident, the other motorist was taken by her parents to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, NJ. Doctors at the Pompton Plains medical facility treated her for serious injuries that included a broken arm.
The suspect was also transported to the same hospital so that he could be treated for minor injuries suffered in the car crash.
The suspect was later taken into police custody and charged with several traffic offenses, including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and reckless driving. The suspect was also charged with assault by auto.
