A man living in motel room in a Montville New Jersey has been charged with murder for allegedly beating his girlfriend’s young son to death.
According to Montville authorities, the 28-year-old suspect severely beat and physically abused the young child. The assault was reportedly committed at the Knights Inn in the Pine Brook area of Montville, NJ, where the suspect lived with his girlfriend and her child.
Shortly after the child became unresponsive, the suspect called 911 and told Montville police that the boy was choking. When Montville NJ police officers got to the motel, they found the victim suffering from serious injuries. Additionally, the suspect’s girlfriend reportedly had visible bruises all over her face and body.
The victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ. Three days later, doctors took the victim off life support. When the child died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head, he was only three years old.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment a short time after the homicide in April 2015. When the child died, the assault charges were upgraded to first degree murder charges.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was transported to the Morris County Jail in Morristown, NJ. He has been at the correctional facility for the past nine months on a massive $1 million bail amount.
The suspect’s high bail amount was recently maintained when a judge rejected the suspect’s bail reduction request.
During the bail review hearing in a Morris County courtroom, Morris County NJ prosecutors said that the suspect killed “a defenseless little boy.”
