Mount Olive Sexual Assault AttorneysLaw enforcement arrested a Budd Lake man who allegedly sexually assaulted an underage girl over a two-year period in Mount Olive, NJ.

According to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect committed the sexual offenses between 2002 and 2004. Mount Olive police learned about the alleged sex crimes and immediately alerted Morris County prosecutors. Morris County Prosecutor’s Office detectives then began an investigation and spoke with both the suspect and the alleged victim. The victim told investigators that the suspect had sexually penetrated her on multiple occasions, as well as touching her on the genitals.

Police later placed the suspect under arrest and charged him with a number of sexual offenses, including aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.

The suspect, a 65-year-old Budd Lake NJ resident, could end up spending a very long time behind bars if he is ultimately convicted on the most serious criminal charges. That’s because N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2(a) stipulates that an adult who commits an act of sexual penetration with a victim under the age of 13 can be charged with a first degree felony. A conviction for first degree aggravated sexual assault could result in a sentence of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Morris County Jail in Morristown on a $150K bail amount.
