Florham Park NJ Luring SuspectFlorham Park, NJ authorities are investigating a report of a man attempting to lure a 12-year-old boy into his van.

Florham Park police indicate that the boy was walking in the area of 20 Murphy Circle when a white van pulled up beside him. A white or Hispanic man allegedly opened the passenger door and offered the boy some candy in exchange for getting into the vehicle.

When the boy ran away, the van apparently drove off toward Farr Lane.

The Florham Park Police Department and Office of Emergency Management report that the vehicle was a white van with red lettering on the side and as many as two ladders on top.

Unfortunately, the boy did not get a good look at either the driver of the van or the van’s license plate.

In New Jersey, N.J.S.A. 2C:13-6 addresses luring and/or enticement of minor children. Since the statute classifies luring as a second degree crime, the suspects in this case could be sentenced to up to 10 years in state prison if they are convicted.
