A Roxbury NJ gas station worker has been accused of committing multiple sex crimes by groping two women who were attempting to pay for gas.
According to authorities, the first sexual offense incident occurred last month at the BP gas station on Route 46 in the Ledgewood section of Roxbury Township, New Jersey. The victim, a 46-year-old female, was reportedly in the process of paying for gas when the suspect, a gas station attendant, grabbed her breast over her clothing.
The victim did initially come forward to law enforcement. She reported the allegations after seeing a news report about another incident in which the suspect allegedly grabbed a different woman’s breast at the Roxbury NJ gas station.
Roxbury police officers conducted an investigation into the suspect and eventually obtained an arrest warrant. When the suspect learned about the second criminal charge, he turned himself in to Roxbury NJ police.
The 53-year-old suspect, who resides in Roxbury, NJ, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on either count of the criminal sexual contact charges, he would face significant criminal penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3, anyone who commits an act of sexual contact that does not quite rise to the level of a sexual assault can be charged with a fourth degree crime. A conviction for fourth degree criminal sexual contact could lead to a sentence of up to 18 months in NJ State Prison.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was moved to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail on a $10K bail amount.
