Police apprehended a Ledgewood New Jersey man accused of groping a woman at a gas station.
The incident occurred at a Ledgewood gas station on January 19, 2016. According to authorities, the 53-year-old suspect works as an attendant at the BP station on Route 46 in Ledgewood, New Jersey. Ledgewood is an unincorporated community in Roxbury, NJ.
After the incident, the victim called local police and said that the suspect grabbed her breast while she attempted to pay for gasoline at the station.
Police looked into the allegations and later arrested the suspect without incident.
The suspect has been charged with the sexual offense of criminal sexual contact.
As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3, criminal sexual contact is ordinarily classified as a fourth degree crime. A conviction on fourth degree criminal sexual contact charges could result in a sentence of up to 18 months in New Jersey State Prison.
Beyond that, a person convicted of a sex crime like criminal sexual contact may be subject to Megan’s Law sex offender registration requirements.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Jail in Morristown, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail on a $10K bail amount.
