Mendham NJ Sexual Assault ChargesA female teacher at the Daytop drug-treatment facility in Mendham NJ allegedly had sex with a student.

The 28-year-old defendant is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student. According to prosecutors, the illegal conduct included sexual intercourse, oral sex. Prosecutors also said that the defendant had numerous “sexual conversations” with the alleged victim, who was a court-ordered resident of the clinic.

When the allegations were first revealed, the center immediately suspended the defendant from her teaching position.

According to authorities, the defendant spoke with investigators and admitted that she had engaged in the illegal conduct. As a result, she was charged with second degree sexual assault.

Although the student was over the age of 18 at the time of the conduct, their sexual relationship was still illegal because the defendant reportedly had supervisory or disciplinary power over the student.

The charges against the defendant are very serious. If she is convicted of second degree sexual result, she may be sentenced to 5–10 years in NJ State Prison.

The defendant recently appeared at a bail hearing in Morris County Superior Court, which is located in Morristown, New Jersey. She made her appearance via closed-circuit television because she is currently being held at the Morris County Jail.

The superior court judge lowered the defendant’s bail from $150,000 to $125,000. However, the judge ordered the defendant to avoid contact with any minors if she is released on bail.
