Mount Olive Sexual Assault ChargesMount Olive NJ police arrested a local man who is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

The 43-year-old suspect allegedly forced the victim to have sexual relations in 2009.

Prosecutors noted that the suspect has already faced similar charges in the past. He was actually arrested in 2006 and charged with child endangerment and child abuse; however, the charges were dismissed after the suspect was reportedly admitted into a diversionary program.

The latest incident has resulted in a number of new charges, including first degree aggravated sexual assault, child endangerment, and aggravated criminal sexual contact.

Shortly after being arrested, the suspect was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown. He was initially being held there on $300,000 bail.

The suspect argued for bail reduction during a bail hearing in Morris County Superior Court. However, the judge maintained the high bail amount and ordered the suspect to have no contact with the victim or any other minors.

Prosecutors in the case fear that the suspect will avoid trial if he is released on bail. That’s because the suspect, who is not a U.S. citizen, is currently being investigated by federal immigration authorities. Depending upon what federal authorities decide to do with the suspect, he could be deported before trial.
