Parsippany NJ Man Charged with Sexual AssaultA Parsippany NJ man was arrested after allegedly admitting his sexual involvement with three (3) teenage boys.

According to prosecutors, 53-year-old Daniel Bell confirmed the allegations and made “admissions corroborating what the victims had to say.”

When he allegedly committed the sexual assaults, Mr. Bell was serving as a volunteer mentor in the Morris County Prevention Is Key program. Prior to being arrested, Mr. Bell had no criminal record.

It is alleged that Mr. Bell engaged in sexual activities with the first victim for nearly two (2) years. According to police, during this period the victim was between the ages of 15 and 17.

Police believe that Mr. Bell later sexually assaulted a second teenager, who was 13 years old at the time. The third victim is believed to have been an acquaintance of Mr. Bell’s.

Mr. Bell has been charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and child endangerment.

In New Jersey, sexual assault is addressed by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b and N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c. As set forth by the statutes, sexual assault can be classified as a second degree criminal offense. If Mr. Bell is convicted of second degree sexual assault, he may face as many as ten (10) years in New Jersey State Prison. Additionally, under the No Early Release Act (NERA), Mr. Bell would be required to serve at least 85% of his sentence before gaining parole eligibility.

At a bail hearing, a Morris County Superior Court judge maintained Mr. Bell’s bail at $200,000.00.
