Rockaway NJ Sexual Molestation AttorneysA Rockaway Borough NJ resident faces criminal charges for allegedly molesting two underage boys at a shopping mall. He was recently ruled incompetent to participate in his own defense at trial without medication.

The suspect, a 35-year-old man from Rockaway Borough, allegedly committed the sexual offenses at the Rockaway Townsquare mall on August 28, 2015. He reportedly approached the two victims in mall restrooms and touched their genitals.

On September 10, 2015, the suspect allegedly attempted to kidnap another boy from a Target store located in Rockaway Borough, New Jersey. The five-year-old victim later told police that the victim threatened to cut him with a knife during the attempted kidnapping.

One day later, Rockaway NJ cops were able to locate and arrest the suspect. Detectives reportedly used surveillance video footage to determine the suspect’s identity.

The suspect faces several criminal charges, including sexual assault, child endangerment, luring, attempted kidnapping, terroristic threats, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

In September 2016, the suspect was indicted on the sex crime charges. Now the suspect is supposed to stand trial in Morris County Superior Court, but first he must be ruled competent to participate in his own defense. A superior court judge recently said that the suspect must take medication for bipolar disorder prior to the start of trial. That determination was made after a mental health evaluation by a psychiatrist.

While the suspect awaits the beginning of trial, he is in custody at the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, New Jersey. He is being held at the jail in lieu of $600,000 bail.
