Rockaway New Jersey Sexual Assault LawyersA volunteer with Rockaway Township NJ youth program recently pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges.

The 55-year-old Parsippany man was a volunteer with the Morris County Prevention Is Key Program. The program helps at-risk juveniles in New Jersey by offering mentoring services. While working as a volunteer, the suspect began an inappropriate relationship with one of the program’s teenagers. At some point, the relationship allegedly turned sexual.

Police eventually arrested the suspect and charged him with sexual assault. When the suspect later appeared in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown NJ, he pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charges.

Additionally, the suspect pleaded guilty to child endangerment and child abuse in connection with incidents involving two other teens. According to prosecutors, the suspect encouraged the teenagers to engage in sexual behavior in his presence.

Authorities indicated that two of the victims were 13 years old, while the third victim was 14 years old when the abuse occurred. The incidents reportedly occurred between October 2011 and September 2013.

The plea agreement calls for the suspect to serve 10 years in NJ State Prison.

The suspect will also be required to register as a convicted sex offender under Megan’s Law after his release from prison. As a result, he will be prohibited from having any contact with minors.

Before he is sentenced, the suspect will be evaluated at the New Jersey Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center. Professionals will determine whether the suspect should be classified as a compulsive and repetitive sex offender.
