A Rockaway Township police officer has been charged with sexual assaulting two minors, but he will be free on bail while the charges are pending.
The suspect is a 44-year-old man from Rockaway Township NJ. He works as a police officer with the Rockaway Township Police Department in Morris County. He was placed under arrest and charged with sexual assault after Morris County Prosecutor’s Office detectives investigated sexual abuse allegations.
The suspect has been accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl. According to law enforcement, he gave the victims alcohol and drugs and had sex with them on multiple occasions.
The suspect faces charges for several sex crimes, including two counts of sexual assault and four counts of child endangerment. If the suspect is ultimately convicted of sexual assault, he could potentially be sentenced to 5-10 years in NJ State Prison.
The suspect is about to be released from the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown NJ. However, he will be subject to restraining orders that bar him from any contact with the two teenage victims. Before he is officially released from jail, the suspect will be served with the restraining orders. His movements will also be tracked through electronic monitoring.
