Wharton NJ Sexual Assault LawyerPolice arrested a Wharton, NJ woman for allegedly assaulting – both sexually and violently – a young girl on several occasions.

According to authorities, the 25-year-old suspect engaged in multiple sexual acts, including “digital penetration,” with the eight-year-old child in 2013. Police said that the child told investigators that the suspect promised her candy and then sexually assaulted her.

The suspect has also been accused of punching and kicking the child in the stomach several times during a period beginning in June 2013 and ending in April 2014.

Following an investigation by detectives with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was placed under arrest. She has been charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sexual assault, and third degree endangering the welfare of a child.

As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a, first degree aggravated sexual assault charges may be brought against a defendant accused of committing an act of sexual penetration with a victim under the age of 13. In this case, the suspect could face a sentence of between 10 and 20 years in New Jersey State Prison if convicted of the most serious charges.

After being arrested, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, with her bail set at $150,000. If she is able to post bail, she will be required to avoid contact with the child.
