Hanover Aggravated Assault Lawyers

Hanover NJ police recently arrested a man who allegedly assaulted a gas station attendant and then attempted to drive away without paying for fuel.
According to authorities, the 55-year-old suspect committed the theft at a Shell gas station located on Route 10 in Hanover Township, New Jersey. The suspect, who lives in New York, had stopped at the station so that he could get fuel for his van.
After a gas station employee fueled up the suspect’s van, the suspect allegedly struck the employee with the van door. The suspect then allegedly drove off without paying for the gas.
While leaving the station, the suspect reportedly struck a booth and a concrete barrier.
A Hanover NJ police patrolman later found the suspect and arrested him.
The suspect was charged with several crimes, including aggravated assault, hindering apprehension, and criminal mischief. The suspect was also charged with robbery and theft of services.
Additionally, police cited the suspect for a number of traffic violations, including reckless driving, driving while suspended, and failure to possess proof of registration and insurance.
If the suspect is convicted on the more serious criminal offenses, he could face stiff penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1(b), aggravated assault that involves a motor vehicle can potentially be classified as a fourth degree crime. A conviction for fourth degree aggravated assault is punishable by a sentence of up to 18 months in NJ State Prison.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail on a $50,000 bail amount.
