East Hanover Robbery LawyerEast Hanover police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a local Babies ‘R Us.

According to police, employees of the Babies ‘R Us on Route 10 were leaving the store for the night when a man walked up to them and flashed a gun. The man then reportedly ordered the employees to return the store. Once inside the store, the man continued to hold the gun while he instructed the employees to open the store safe and give him the contents.

The suspect, who hails from East Orange NJ, reportedly took $5,500 before fleeing the store.

The employees called East Hanover police to report the robbery.

An investigation followed, with the Morris County CrimeStoppers publicizing the incident and asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. Investigators with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office were able to identify and apprehend the suspect when witnesses called to say that they saw the suspect in a white Honda sedan.

The suspect was arrested earlier this month. He has been charged with several theft offenses, including robbery, burglary, theft of movable property. He also faces charges for possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.

If the suspect is convicted of robbery, he could be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1, robbery is a first degree criminal offense if the offender uses a deadly weapon during commission of the crime. Since the suspect in this case allegedly brandished a handgun during the incident, he could potentially be sentenced to 10–20 years in NJ State Prison.

After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was transported to the Morris County Jail. He is being held there on $200,000 bail.
