Florham Park NJ Forgery ChargesA man who used to work as an accountant for Kushner Co. in Florham Park NJ has pleaded guilty to forging a company check in the amount of $125,000.

The 34-year-old suspect, who hails from East Orange, served as a staff accountant for Kushner Co. in Florham Park, New Jersey.

According to authorities, the suspect conspired with a construction vendor to cash the massive check at Jersey City Check Cashing in Jersey City, NJ. The construction vendor did not have authorization to receive payments from the business.

After learning about the fraudulent activity, law enforcement started an investigation into the suspect. The Florham Park Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit conducted a joint investigation and eventually found enough evidence to charge the suspect.

Now the suspect has reportedly reached a plea deal and admitted to the fraud. The suspect recently made an appearance in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown NJ and pleaded guilty to forgery. The guilty plea came after the suspect made a deal with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect entered guilty pleas for several theft and fraud charges, including second degree theft by deception.

Under the terms of the plea deal, prosecutors will likely recommend that the suspect serve 3 years in NJ State Prison. Prosecutors also intend to recommend that the suspect be ordered to pay restitution.

The suspect is scheduled to make another appearance in Morris County Superior Court in October for sentencing.
