Hackettstown NJ Man Steals from Joe PiscopoA Hackettstown New Jersey man recently admitted to stealing more than $170,000 from famous comedian Joe Piscopo.

According to Morris County prosecutors, the 40-year-old suspect was employed as Piscopo’s bookkeeper and was responsible for the theft of $170,805.61 from the former “Saturday Night Live” star.

The suspect’s job requirements included handling Piscopo’s monthly bills and managing Piscopo’s bank account.

After the theft of the cash from Piscopo’s bank account, the suspect allegedly used the stolen funds to cover his own personal expenses. The thefts occurred between 2010 and 2014.

Now the suspect is likely to spend several years behind bars after reaching a plea agreement with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect has reportedly agreed to enter a guilty plea when he appears in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown, NJ for a sentencing hearing.

The suspect’s wife has also pleaded guilty to the theft of a large amount of money from Piscopo. She reportedly wrote several checks from Piscopo’s bank account and then stole the funds.

The bookkeeper is likely to be sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison for his thefts. If he had failed to reach a plea deal with prosecutors, he would have been subject to a term of incarceration of 5-10 years in NJ State Prison.

Additionally, both suspects have agreed to repay the money they took from Piscopo.
