Mount Olive police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a purse snatcher.
In January, police received a report that a man and a woman had stolen a purse from a motor vehicle in a Budd Lake deli parking lot in January. The man, identified as 32-year-old Hopatcong resident Scott August, was later apprehended. However, the woman’s identity remains unknown.
Mr. August has a checkered criminal history. Last year, he was swept up in a massive police crackdown on alleged drug dealers in Roxbury and Hopatcong. And earlier this year, Mr. August was arrested again on drug charges after police raided a Hopatcong home.
Mount Olive police have released surveillance photos of the woman believed to have committed the purse-snatching at the Budd Lake deli. Police ask that anyone with information about the woman’s identity contact them at (973) 691-0900 ext. 7100.
