Parsippany NJ police recently arrested two people who allegedly assaulted and robbed a man at a local motel.
The violent incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on December 30, 2015. According to law enforcement, the suspects assaulted the victim at the Travelodge Parsippany on Route 46 in Parsippany, New Jersey.
The first suspect is reportedly acquainted with the victim. The suspect allegedly became upset with the victim when the victim noted that he did not have any cigarettes. According to the victim, the suspect was so angry that he attacked the victim.
After the initial assault, the suspect reportedly exited the room momentarily and then returned with another person. The two suspects then allegedly stole more than $1,000 in cash from the victim.
During the course of committing the robbery, the suspects allegedly punched and kicked the victim in the head.
Afterwards, the victim dialed 911 and alerted Parsippany NJ police.
Parsippany police officers staked out the motel parking lot and waited for the suspects to come back. When one of the suspects returned to the hotel parking, he was accompanied by a 19-year-old man from Brooklyn, NY.
Parsippany police conducted a search of the vehicle and the passenger and allegedly discovered him carrying a small amount of marijuana. As a result, the passenger was arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana.
The other suspects are a 22-year-old male from Uxbridge, Massachusetts and a 22-year-old male from Parsippany, New Jersey. They face numerous criminal charges, including robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and theft of movable property. Moreover, one of the primary suspects faces charges for aggravated assault.
After being arrested and processed, the main suspects in the case were remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility in Morristown, New Jersey. They were being held at the jail on separate $65,000 bail amounts.
