Roxbury police apprehended two suspects accused of breaking into a car and trying to steal the owner’s possessions.
The suspects allegedly gained access to the car while it was parked in the driveway of the vehicle owner. According to the victim, the car was unlocked at the time.
Police said that the victim found the suspects rifling through his car when he returned to his Mountain Road home in Roxbury, NJ.
The suspects reportedly fled the scene when they saw the victim. A short time later, Roxbury police showed up at the house and canvassed the area.
Police found one of the suspects on nearby Emmans Road. He was arrested without incident.
Police eventually located the second suspect in the woods around Mountain Road. The suspect reportedly suffered dog bite wounds while being apprehended because a Morris County K-9 unit was involved in the search.
According to police, the suspects are both from Ledgewood, New Jersey. They have both been charged with burglary and theft of movable property.
The second suspect was eventually transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility, where he was being held on $25,000 bail. However, he was first taken to a local hospital so that he could receive treatment for his dog bite injuries.
The other suspect was released on his own recognizance. He has a pending court date in Roxbury Municipal Court to answer the charges.
