Mendham Township NJ Theft LawyersNJ authorities apprehended seven men accused of committing car burglaries in Mendham Borough and Mendham Township, New Jersey.

According to Morris County law enforcement, the suspects committed the car break-ins late at night in early June 2016. The suspects reportedly drove through Mendham NJ and stopped whenever they noticed a parked motor vehicle that happened to be unlocked.

The suspects allegedly broke into and burglarized several cars. They allegedly stole items valued at more than $800.

After law enforcement got multiple reports of car burglaries and thefts in both Mendham Borough and Mendham Township, the Mendham Borough Police Department and the Mendham Township Police Department started a joint investigation into the reported vehicle burglaries.

Investigators eventually identified and arrested seven suspects in connection with the case:

  • 19-year-old Irvington NJ man
  • 19-year-old Hillsborough NJ man
  • 19-year-old Bound Brook man
  • 19-year-old male from Bound Brook NJ
  • 19-year-old male from Somerville, NJ
  • 19-year-old Bridgewater New Jersey man
  • 17-year-old juvenile (the minor’s identity and residence were not disclosed)

All seven suspects in the criminal case have been charged with numerous crimes, including burglary, theft of movable property, and possession of stolen property. Moreover, the suspects all face criminal charges for conspiracy to commit burglary and theft because they are accused of working together to plan and carry out the car break-ins.

If the suspects are eventually convicted of burglary, they would be subject to severe criminal penalties. That’s because N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2 ordinarily classifies burglary as a third degree felony. A conviction on third degree burglary charges could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.

Mendham New Jersey authorities are asking residents of Mendham Borough and Mendham Township to take safety precautions so that their cars are not broken into. For example, anyone parking their car on the street should make sure that the car doors are locked at all times.
