Police in Rockaway Borough police are searching for a man who burglarized a local business.
According to authorities, the break-in occurred at Power Place on Route 46 in Rockaway Borough, NJ. The theft incident happened after the store had closed for the night.
The Rockaway Borough Police Department was notified of the burglary when workers arrived at the store the next morning.
The suspect allegedly gained access to the business by smashing a window at the front of the store.
After entering the building, the suspect allegedly stole various items, including two Stihl chainsaws and one Stihl Demo saw.
Rockaway Borough police officers investigated the break-in and obtained video surveillance footage that allegedly shows the suspect in the process of breaking into the business and committing the theft.
Law enforcement recently posted a surveillance photo of the suspect on the Rockaway Borough Police Department Facebook page.
If Rockaway investigators can eventually identify and capture the suspect, he would likely be charged with burglary and theft of movable property. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, anyone caught illegally entering a structure or building can be charged with a third degree felony. A conviction on third degree burglary charges could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in NJ State Prison.
