A Newark man who works at a Five Guys restaurant located in Rockaway Township allegedly stole almost $6,000 from the business and lost the money through gambling.
The suspect is a 44-year-old resident of Newark, New Jersey resident. He was employed at the Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurant on Mount Hope Avenue in Rockaway Township, NJ. (There are more than 1,400 Five Guys fast food
restaurants worldwide.) The suspect’s duties at the Five Guys restaurant reportedly included making cash deposits.
According to law enforcement, the suspect committed several theft crimes by embezzling cash that was supposed to be deposited into the bank on behalf of the restaurant. Instead of depositing the funds, the suspect allegedly kept $5,879 and later gambled away the money.
Now the suspect has been arrested and criminal charged with multiple counts of theft and fraud.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Morris County Jail in Morristown, NJ.
