A Jefferson Township man was recently cited for a traffic violation stemming from a fatal auto accident.
The suspect is a 21-year-old man who lives in Jefferson, NJ. On April 19, he was involved in a deadly car accident on Berkshire Valley Road.
According to authorities, the suspect was driving a 1990 Mercedes 560 when he made a dangerous lane change and crashed head-on into a motor vehicle being operated by a woman from the Stockholm section of Hardyston Township in Sussex County, NJ
The other motor vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, was headed eastbound and approaching the intersection of Berkshire Valley Road and Taylor Road when the accident occurred.
Police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene of the crash, but they could not save the lives of the driver and passenger in the Toyota. The passenger was the 52-year-old mom of the driver and resided in Hardyston, New Jersey.
The Jefferson Township NJ man suffered minor injuries in the crash and got medical treatment at an area hospital.
Jefferson Township police detectives investigated the fatal auto accident and eventually cited the driver of the Mercedes for a traffic violation: making an unsafe lane change. The suspect does not currently face criminal charges for vehicular manslaughter.
