Newton New Jersey Traffic ChargesPolice officers recently arrested a man who allegedly caused a serious car accident on a roadway in Stillwater NJ and then left the scene of the accident.

The auto accident occurred on August 29, 2016 near the intersection of Stillwater Road and Possum Hill Road in Stillwater, NJ. The suspect was reportedly driving a blue Jeep Cherokee when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed. The collision is said to have resulted in significant property damage.

After the auto accident, the suspect allegedly continued driving and fled the scene without bothering to dial 911 to alert authorities.

NJ State Police was later notified of the car accident and dispatched troopers to the scene. A subsequent investigation determined that the suspect likely crashed the Jeep when he ran through the intersection without bothering to stop.

Investigators were also able to determine the suspect’s identity, which helped them locate the Jeep parked near his residence in Newton, New Jersey.

The suspect was eventually placed under arrest and charged with multiple traffic violations and criminal offenses, including leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, assault by auto, endangering an injured victim, hindering apprehension, and tampering with evidence.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released on his own recognizance. He will be required to appear in court at a later date so that he can answer the charges against him.
