Roxbury NJ Traffic Defense LawyersLaw enforcement recently arrested two people accused of eluding police in Roxbury, NJ.

The eluding incident involved a high-speed pursuit that started just after 1:00 p.m. on Route 80 in Roxbury, NJ. A Roxbury police officer was on patrol when he reportedly observed the suspects’ car commit traffic offenses while headed east on Route 80.

The Roxbury patrol officer tried to stop the suspects’ vehicle, but the driver reportedly accelerated and fled the area. Roxbury police did not pursue because the suspects’ car was engaging in driving at a high rate of speed and a close pursuit would have posed risks to other motorists. Roxbury NJ police alerted the New Jersey State Police, which made sure that troopers were aware of the vehicle description.

NJ State Police troopers later noticed the vehicle getting off Route 80 and traveling eastbound on Route 46. Police pursued the car until the it slammed into two other vehicles on the road.

The driver was a 39-year-old Oxford NJ resident. He has been charged with numerous crimes, including eluding law enforcement, aggravated assault, and assault by auto.

The passenger was a 37-year-old Bridgewater woman. She was also placed under arrest because she reportedly had outstanding warrants for her arrest.
