A Paterson NJ teenager was injured after being hit by a car in a Riverdale parking lot.
The 19-year-old victim, an overnight stock person at Walmart, was on his way to work at the Route 23 North store when he walked along a crosswalk in the parking lot.
According to authorities, a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser made a right hand turn near the store entrance around the same time. The driver of the vehicle reportedly accelerated before driving through the crosswalk and striking the victim.
The victim went into shock after being hit; he was taken to Morristown Medical Center to be treated. The victim also reportedly received treatment for injuries to his arm and leg.
The driver of the PT Cruiser was uninjured in the crash.
According to police, the victim’s family was present at the scene when the crash happened. They apparently began yelling and throwing things at the driver after the accident. Things settled down once officers arrived at the scene.
Although police continue to investigate the crash, the driver has already been issued summonses for a number of traffic violations, including reckless driving, failure to yield to a pedestrian, and driving with an obstructed view.
